Second of all, I've never heard of a jelqin' machine. If it goes to sleep, just take it out, wake it up ( ;) ;) ), and continue.
As for those who say 80% or 70%, it's not -that- important. Basically, like someone said earlier, it's all about getting blood into your penis, then forcing it up and compressing it so that it stretches out the cavities inside your penis. That way, when you do get erect, it's girthier. That's the point of jelqin', hehe.
 
if it's too hard then you can't squeeze it, I've used the soft method for 2 months and worked well. Just the action of jelquin should get some reaction and naturally put you in a semi state. Even if your very soft, after enough jelks the bell will become almost dark blue and you just know that it's working, because the body reacts to stress.
 
i prefer palms down kind of overhard hold. this works awesome to capture blood and to stretch the base. the downside is you cant see your dick as much so its hard to tell how engorged it gets. so ill switch to regular. anyways, i start flacid and you can get way more stretch with palms down grip and you can start your grip at your body much easier.. i would do that instead.
 
flaccid jelqing?? will that work? because most other guys says you have to be semi-erect to jelq.. which one better? flaccid or erect?

The more flaccid you are, while jeling, the more it becomes a length exercise than a girth. Jelqing at 50% or lower will really be training length more than girth but as you go up in erection strength you begin to train girth more.

would you say that a flaccid jelq still works girth no matter what? my main focus is length, and if flaccid jelqing will give me mostly length and some girth that would be most beneficial to me since i am already satisfied with my girth for now and any gains are great but not neccesary right now.

It will deliver some girth gain but not at the level you would at higher erection strengths. Length will become dominate as you jelq with less EQ and with more deliberate strokes. For many guys a normal jelq will last about 1-2 seconds, I suggest the latter since you are focusing on length, it will accentuate the growth more.
 
I just started and have a huge increase in my flaccid size. I jelq at 100% erect. Check out the thread in my signature
